Scott Schmidly, MHA

Principal

Scott Schmidly, is the Co-Founder and Principal of Wound Sync, a specialty specific Management Service Organization (MSO) focused on delivering comprehensive practice management solutions to providers working in hospital and independent outpatient wound care centers. Scott has over 20 years of experience in a variety of large adult and pediatric health systems in highly competitive markets, including operating several joint ventures between proprietary and tax-exempt institutions as well as in university and academic teaching institutions.

Throughout Scott’s career, he has had the opportunity to work across an assortment of the healthcare industry sub-sectors, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), urgent care centers (UCCs), free-standing emergency departments (FSEDs), imaging facilities (IDTFs), and physician practice management organizations of various sub-specialty types and sizes. He has led de-novo ASC Joint Ventures, medical practice acquisitions and mergers, as well as asset divestitures. He also has experience working with Independent Physician Associations (IPAs), Physician/Hospital Organizations (PHOs), and Third Party Administrators (TPAs).

Scott attained his Masters of Science degree in Health Care Management from Trinity University and his bachelor degree from Stephen. F. Austin State University. He began his career with the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, an HCA Joint Venture, and has served as a CEO or COO of hospitals with HCA in other markets including Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and greater Atlanta. He has also worked in various executive capacities including CEO and Group Vice President with Emory Healthcare, Christus Health, and Ascension.

Scott is the past recipient of ACHE’s Regent’s and Governor’s Young Health Care Executive of the Year award, and served as Chair of the North Texas ACHE Chapter, Chair of the Texas Hospital Association’s Leadership Development Council, and is an emeritus member of the executive advisory board for the Nelson Rusche College of Business at Stephen F. Austin State University. In his spare time, Scott enjoys traveling while working with his wife, Han, and spending time with his girls, Hannah and Kate.
